Fashionable Mommies

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

I know I am not a mommy yet, but I came across this blog from another blogger (don't you love that), and I wanted to share the love. The GLOW is an amazing blog that shows a photo journalistic idea of the lives of many fashionable moms. It is very inspirational as they showcase their trendy maternity wear, desirable decor and multi-tasking tricks. Definitely worth checking out, mom or not.

"Keeping the Faith" Vogue Japan February 2012

Thursday, January 19, 2012

The styling in Vogue Japan's  editorial spread "Keeping the Faith" is crazy, sexy, fresh. LOVE!
 Props to stylist Sissy Vian.

Married to Myself

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Finally I am posting some of the final pics from the photoshoot I styled called "Married to Myself." I blogged earlier about the behind the scenes from the day of the shoot.  The concept of the photoshoot was inspired by the idea of a broken marriage. For styling, I took a high fashion approach to the image of a salary man and styled the desperate housewife in gold and fur.

It was such a fun shoot with a great crew! The images speak for themselves.

A Bathing Ape Women's Spring 2012

Sunday, January 15, 2012

*Streetwear Standpoint

I am loving BAPE Women's Spring 2012 lookbook.  Muted tones, Signature hoodies, logo tees, vests and camo cardigans. L-i-g-i-t. Pick up a few pieces for a bit of understated cool-girl swaag. A bit too boyish for you? Pair a hoodie with some cigarette, leather pants and sky high booties or belt the cardigans at the waist and pair it with a bubble skirt, tights and lace up, heeled sandals. HAUTE!

Beating the Breeze in Seoul- Photo Diary Part 1

Friday, January 13, 2012
SEOUL WAS (seoul) COLD! However, a bit of breeze is not going to stop me from checking out the War Memorial Museum, Itaewon, Myeong Dong, and wonder along the sidewalks of a new city for the day. My first day in Seoul I was a bit aggressive with the outdoor activity itinerary, but I kept warm with Uniqlo heat tech, knit sweater, wool skirt and my favorite long jacket with faux fur trim. A special thanks to Zara for making some bad-A, chic yet comfortable boots that I walked around in for hours. When in doubt always keep a few warm accessories handy in case of some wind or temperature drop. I packed along some black gloves and my fitted Michael Kors beenie. (Not huge into monograms, but it felt right with a neutral color palette.)

A few Suggestions if ever in Seoul:

1.) Absolutely visit the War Memorial Museum, not only enlightening but entertaining as well with reenactments.

2.) Itaewon is the most international district I visited in Seoul, however it is full of fun restaurants and bars. Go to the Grand Hyatt and look at the view over the city and eat some Ynang Num (sp) chicken at the their recommended spot down the street.

3.) Style watch in Myeong Dong. Great fashion made in Korea.

4.) Souvenir shop in Insadong. Make sure to pick up some Red Ginseng Tea and lacquer china with mother of pearl embellishments.

Seoul Food

Monday, January 9, 2012
The following images are the main culprits behind my 2-3 week detox/cleanse that I started last Tuesday. While in Seoul I did my fair share of experimental foreign food tastings and divulged into others after the first sniff of garlic. One day, when the weather was a few degrees from freezing, we decided to go door to door to different restaurants to try out the native sensations. Some places were recommendations and the others we let our nose to do leading. Korean cuisine is rich, spicy and full of garlic. Perfect food for the seoul.

*I am not a food critic, nor a "food-ie" for that matter, but I spent the afternoon looking like (being) a snap happy tourist in these restaurants so who else to share my lovely pics with then you...awww

*(No, I am not going to start posting every meal I eat, so please check my blog again. :)

French toast at "The Flying Pan". A great Sunday Brunch spot. (Not Korean, OBVS, but it was Oh so delish I had to share.)

STREET FOOD: Fish Skins, Grilled Corn, and Hot Dog with curly fries swirled around it dipped in batter and fried again. Not going to lie, we didn't venture down the this plethora of fat path, but I had to take a pic.

VOTED "Best Dumplings in Seoul". The line was outrageous, but moved quickly. This is located in the heart of Myeong Dong. Gum and mint are advised after eating these bad boys, the garlic lingers the entire day.

Korean noodles, mixed in broth of cold veggies, onion and Kimchi. Served with two large ice cubes.

Green noodles, served with pickled veggies, sesame seeds and spicy sauce.

Korean BBQ... Very popular in Japan as well.

Bibimbap

Probably one of the best dishes in Korea. Ynang Nang Chicken. It is a take on American fried chicken with a spicy sauce drenched all over it. It's out of control.

Year of the Dragon!

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

I just wanted to wish everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope all your goals and wishes are met in 2012.  I also want to thank those of you who check my blog and the lovely feedback you have given me. Whether one person reads these or a million, I am grateful for the opportunity and resources to  express myself creatively and the happiness it has provided me as I make a life abroad.

I returned from Seoul yesterday and I can't wait to share some of the cities unique neighborhoods, delicious food and a bit of fashion I threw on to bare the freezing weather.

kam-sa-ham-ni-da!

Cheers to the year of the DRAGON!
