Hang Out in H&M Kids

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

It's been a random week. Columbus Day was off , and today we're off for Yom Kippur. I live by a routine, but wingin' it every once in awhile feels good. However, living in an apartment with toddlers = get the F outside when it's nice, raining, or even a small hurricane. By 8AM every morning my living room is a vomit pile of throw pillow, Legos, Shopkins, and half eaten apples. To quote my mom "I can't have anything nice!". Hey mom, I feel you, bro! I'm pretty sure my son just took a ball point pen to my new couch, but that's another blog. Thank God for the playroom in the building, I throw them in and let the Wild Things roar their terrible roars and gnash their terrible teeth on everything and anything other than Mommy's ankles.

Anyway, as with my interior fashions, I can't put my kids in anything "too" nice, or it's literally putting berry stained $100 bills down a paper shredder. H&M is the price and performance destination for my kids. Maya's been rocking it since a newborn, and Mommy considers the clothing to be durable, economical, and on trend. The collections are super cute, and not embossed with clowns, trains and cartoon motifs, (I buy that sh*t too), I'm just saying.

Maybe by my tone you can tell I had a bit of a "DAY". We all have those, we aren't always in control, sometimes the kids test every inch of patience during their tantrums, whining and blatant rebellions. Nonetheless, they roar their adorable roars and gnashed those cheeky, baby teeth and I melt into a puddle of MommyHood bliss and buy them Starburst.

Despite the hiccups, we love our explorations and the cubs were too cute in their H&M get ups. Links to OUTFIT details at the bottom!

If you don't already, follow my INSTAGRAM @CHANYNCK, and bear with me and all the site changes in the coming months. Happy Humpday!

Blue Jean Baby

Sunday, October 9, 2016
I may have had a minor mommy fail this weekend. I've been so hyped up on fall,  that my weekend mission was to find any harvest, Halloween, pumpkin, festival in the vicinity of Manhattan. A lot of the pumpkin patches and hay rides take place out of the city, (on the bucket list), but with the predicted rain,  we wanted to keep close to home. I found a cute Harvest Festival taking place at Carl Shurz park on the Upper East Side. We called the Juno and headed over stat. Mommy might have missed the comment section of stating to, COME EARLY! All the pumpkins were gone and the excitement had faded by the time we arrived. However, being little Tokyo tikes, they didn't grasp the excitement of a pumpkin patch, or any missed fun. I clearly was the only one with FOMO, me and my childhood nostalgia. They kids just enjoyed the hay stacks, running the river boardwalk and climbing trees. Maybe it wasn't a mommy fail after all, as I was the only one with slight discontent. #GetoveritSHORTY

Clearly we have been in Tokyo for nearly a decade, because the moment I heard "pumpkin patch", I dressed everyone in city-meets-farm ensembles. HA! UM, let's be clear, no one was in farm motif and my daugher's outfit, was more 50's school girl, than a modern, Elly May Clampett. I was excited, give me a break!  The boys however, rocked their denim. We are a LEVI'S family, in and out. Brand loyal 100%. I might have backslided a bit on the whole pumpkin pickin' idea, but these blue jean babies had a hell of a day, and we discovered a new park destination!  Looking forward to finding an actual pumpkin patch for next weekend, so if you know, hook a mama up!

I've attached links to outfit details below. Happy Sunday!

I can't travel without rice cakes. The kid is a snack attack.

Stopping to watch some b-ball.

Blue Jean Baby

This girl has no fear, she jumped from this branch after I took this.

Enjoying the view from the water front boardwalk
Da Boys

Coasting along the boardwalk.

Where's the boats, Dad?

Again, with a snack. I'll be posting my favorite lunch box gems, for on-the-go with kids, soon!

The haystacks were the hit, we played hot lava, and the kids jump from stack to stack.

A Few Fall Favs

"Here are a few of my favorite things...."

It's no mystery that the season upon us is my most beloved time of year. Some may call it basic, but I just call it comfort. Once the weather is stable, the extremes from summer become bearable, providing a window of blissful, crisp autumn temps, before the harshness of winter crop up.

Dear Fall,

You bring the most cozy and chic of fashion, delicious and satisfying recipes, and eye-candy foliage, you'd be a monster to ignore. As someone with human feelings and emotions, I can't help but let my serotonin spike, when you make Central Park turn color, encourage recipe that promote slow cookers (this mama likes that), and allot the time to research Halloween costumes . So to all those who overlook your greatness, I say, "Throw a pumpkin on my head, because I am about to get all pinteresty in my "basic", oasis."

This is my car, my car doesn't have an engine, it has, ME. So I push this around the city, blocks and blocks. I love my car, but in the summer, this beast got the best of me. Thank you, fall, for you have made me love pushing this submarine each morning.

Maybe it is just me, but for some reason, fall, feels way more like a new year than January. Probably because I have a birthday, but also the beginning of a new school year feels so, BRAND NEW. I tend to find myself setting personal goals during the fall. Cheers to growth, professionally, physically and in parenthood. I'm holding up my PSL with pride.

Throwing down a plate of truffle raviolli isn't something I love to do in summer time. However, I finished this meal without any regret. That felt good. Big Sweater time.

I took my daughter to the Central Park Zoo, and she begged to get her face painted. I was so inspired by her Leopard face paint, that I became all giddy about Halloween.

The humidity is officially over. Thank GOD! That was rough, man. Now we can enjoy all of the cities parks and fun and maintain comfort.

Boots, Denim, Hats.. All of it. Bring on the fall fashion. Accessories and Layers. I'm  down with that.

The sunsets

The leaves are starting to change and I plan on documenting every dang hue they turn.
I mean, maybe, maaaybe, I like fall because it's my birthday.. I don't know, maybe.

Super Combo

When the weather starts acting more volatile than my toddler's mood swings, (pre-bed, no nap) , I know it's time to pair separates that accommodate unpredictable climate changes. Oversized top, with a short hemline seems to be my solution in conquering the fickle weather of the day. #FWOTD.

We recently had family in town and spent our days walking through the city, from uptown to the downtown pier. It's such an easy walk down 5th avenue with the stroller. My babies loved stopping at the parks along the way and Maya definitely made the city her playground.
