SHIROMA- Tokyo Fashion Week S/S

Friday, October 21, 2011

I stepped out to Midtown to see new designer, Shiho Shiroma, present her 2012 Spring/Summer collection. Before the show,  she had all of our hearts racing as they blasted loud techno mash ups with heavy drums that vibrated under my stiletto heel. (Seats next to the speaker would've been a killer).

The show started with dresses and separates in muted tones and graphic prints. Followed by outwear and skirts in an amazing blue distressed leather. The thoughtfully designed leather Jackets were definitely a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, I didn't get an amazing shot of the jacket. Please check it out HERE.  Shiroma's stand out pieces were her beautifully draped tops and unique cuts that highlighted her concentration to detail.

On another note, I wasn't pumped about the knotted, warrioresque hair. A simple and flowing do would've  complimented the collections similar aesthetic.. I thought.

TFW Show #2 - ATO

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Day 2 of TFW I stepped out to Midtown Hall for the ATO runway show. I am going to apologize in advance for the picture quality. Admittedly this isn't my best work, but I was a little distracted by my general interest in the collection. "OOH I want that Jacket!". (bad blogger, bad)

For a better glimpse at the line check out the pics HERE.

Ato Matsmoto is the designer and brains behind the brand. ATO launched in 1993, primarily as a menswear line and later introduced womenswear to it's international fanbase and customers. I loved this wearable collection of structured blazers, double breasted jackets, trenchcoats and a number of separates I would definitely rock. I am unquestionably a new fan of this simple yet fashion frontward thinking line.

If you check out the pics, how amazing are the sailor inspired jackets for men and women?

Tokyo Fashion Week - NOZOMI ISHIGURO

I am going to hold off on the rest of the Dubai posts for the week. Currently it is Tokyo Fashion Week and I am attending shows as press and want to share some of the innovative fashion from a few of Japan's elite designers.

First show of Fashion week I attended Nozomi Ishiguro, a former Commes de Garcons designer. His pieces were beautifully constructed and intelligently draped over layers of an ecclectic mix of fabrics. However, the looks all together are a bit too avant-garde for street fashion. Great for a runway show, but would need to be worn as separate pieces to avoid looking like a costume.

After the show my fashion buddy Katie, TokyoDrive.TV co-blogger Kenta and I went to the Mercedes Benz Café for a little after party and mingling.

 Loved TFW's blogger Misha Janette's attire, couldn't resist a photo-op...

Al Qasr Brunch in DUBAI

Monday, October 17, 2011
First, I would like to apologize for the lack of posts last week. I became swamped with school, work and I was still in vacation mode. We all know how that feels.

Anyway, I am back in the grind in Tokyo and cannot WAIT to share a ton of my photos from my recent trip to Dubai. Such a lovely, riveting and new city. Through the hundreds of photos I shot I was able to pull out my favorites of food, sites, a bit of culture and of course Fashion.

We attended the Al Qasr Champagne Brunch the first day we arrived in Dubai. A Friday Brunch in Dubai is on the top ten list of things to do. Friday is the first day of the Arabic weekend and a perfect reason to indulge in endless amounts of multi cultural cuisines. Each country and region had their own "Buffet". A few of my favorites Grilled Seafood, Thai, Arabic, Mexican, French, and of course the dessert corner. Along with the four restaurant sized rooms full of different food, was an endless amount of tasty cocktails and champies. You definitely can not go to this brunch on a cleanse, diet or with an eaters remorse attitude..

The Madinat Jumeriah hotel is beautiful and a perfect place for the brunch. You get perfect views of the Burj Al Arab and direct access to their lovely boat tour through their hotel and personal residences. After the brunch we strolled through the canals. I was in awe of the scenery and of course took some snaps of the native fashions.

Look forward to sharing some more pics from the Souks, Desert and personal style tips I picked up while in the Middle East.

On a magic canal ride....
