Tokyo Fashion's Night Out- Photo Diary

Thursday, September 11, 2014

Last weekend we headed out for Tokyo Fashion's Night Out. We married the evening with a pseudo date night. Called a sitter, enjoyed live music and stayed out past our bedtime. My husband secretly looves FNO, he shows interest in the fashion  as much as he does the free flowing champagne. It's a win-win for both of us :).

We met up with some friends and began party hopping between stores. We spent the majority of our time in Gucci and Armani. Gucci celebrated the "re-birth" or so you call it, of Hello Kitty. Who is actually not a cat, but a person, a little British girl to be exact. In case you didn't get the Sanrio memo. Gucci's windows were pretty dope, Miss Kitty was looking fab and her miniature doll was for auction all night. However, Armani takes the prize for the best party this year. They brought in DJ Ken Ishii and the store was packed with shoppers and party goers.

Of course beyond the parties, fall collections were front and center, getting us all excited for the swinging 60's, oversized outwear, shearling and "cool-girl" sneakers.
Hello Kitty was a showstopper at Gucci.

A few of my favorite fashion girls

At the time of the picture, the Kitty was almost at $2,500. When I left Gucci it was up to $3,200. That was the beginning of the evening.

Retail Explosion in Omotesando

Wednesday, September 10, 2014
I wrote this piece for SavvyTokyo awhile back, but now that all the new stores are open and shining brightly, it seemed necessary to share for all the Tokyo fall shoppers out there. Feel free to pick me up any luxury omiyage, I really am not that picky :)

Window Shopping Just Got 10X Cooler

Omotesando and Aoyama are two of the biggest shopping destinations in Tokyo, housing top fashion labels and unique building designs by renowned architects. The neighborhood already shines bright as is, but now the Champs Elysee inspired street is drawing even more of the world’s leading fashion brands to bedazzle the sidewalks with massive storefronts, attracting new demographics and reaping the benefits of considerable foot traffic.

Major fashion houses such as Givenchy, Balenciaga Alexander McQueen, Celine, and Zadig and Voltaire have opened this Summer, upping the ante and putting Tokyo on the exclusive list of retail shops around the world. So whether you are admiring the visual merchandising as a window shopper or forking over the big bucks for today’s top designers, the glamorous stores are worthy of a tour. After your fashion fever cools down a bit you may possibly feel inclined to stand in line for some Kukuruza popcorn or Max Brenner chocolate fondue that seem to be all the rage.

Givenchy- OPEN

Located in the ONE Omotesando building, the three-story store was designed after its flagship in Paris on rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The French luxury house planted roots at the mouth of Omotesando dori, opening just a couple months ago. The Tokyo store is currently the only one in Japan and is part of a 26-store retail expansion in Asia.

Address: ONE OMOTESANDO 3-5-29 KITA-AOYAMA, MINATO-KU,
107-0061 TOKYO

Celine: RENEWAL OPEN

Céline is also located in the ONE Omotesando building, adjacent to the Givenchy store. The only Celine flagship store in Japan resides in Omotesando. To celebrate the renewal of the two-story boutique, a limited collection of bags and leather goods will be available to the public. Python leather designs from Céline’s upcoming fall collection will be released exclusively at this location including the widely popular travel tote.

Address: 3-5-29 Kita-aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo

Balenciaga:
Across the street from Nanette Lepore in Aoyama is the new Balenciaga Flagship store. The 160 square meter space is filled with two stories of ultra modern silhouettes and a variety of the quintessential Balenciaga City handbag.
Balenciaga Aoyama Flagship Store
Date Opened: March 29 2014
Address: Minato-ku, Aoyama 5-1-2, TS Aoyama Building, Tokyo 107-0062

Alexander McQueen:

Neighboring Balenciaga in Aoyama, Alexander McQueen is currently under construction. Positioned closely to the iconic Prada building the large storefront will be opening soon.

Address: 5-1-3 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku (Aoyama)

Zadig and Voltaire

Zadig and Voltaire

The French fashion label already has a presence in Tokyo, but a new shop opened this Summer in Aoyama making it’s casual chic, ready-to-wear more available for the brand’s fans in Japan.

Vogue Fashion Night Out in Tokyo

Thursday, September 4, 2014

Tomorrow is the night! The precursor to Fall Fashion, Vogues Fashion Night Out, will be here in Tokyo this Saturday. Giving us all a reason to glam up and possibly do some "supportive economic" shopping. We've attended this event the past 4 years so we'll definitely be out there store hopping and enjoying the open air museum of fashion, baby belly and all.

Look forward to sharing some photos from our night, here is one of my favorite throwbacks with my man Mr. Cavalli :).
