Dean for ROMEO- Behind the Scenes

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Model Dean Newcombe is votes away from being Japan's Romeo for Aroma Rich Juliette!
Dean, Photographer Anatole Papafillipou, Make-up Artist Takeru Hiroki and myself headed to Midtown Park to shoot Dean's campaign images.

I styled him as a Modern Day Romeo. The lighting and setting in the park complimented our desired aesthetic. We nailed it! Look forward to sharing the campaign with you. Below are some Behind The Scenes shots of our day in the park.

Don't forget to vote for Dean to be Aroma Rich ROMEO! Vote here:

Cut out Concept Photoshoot- Behind the Scenes

Monday, August 29, 2011

I didn't think twice when my Stylist friend Saki, asked me to fill in for her on a shoot. She let me know ahead of time that the entire crew only spoke Japanese. Thankfully she came as a translator to our concept meeting and was the middle man for an abundance of emails. Thank you Saki-Chan! :) Regardless of the language barrier, the photographer had an amazing concept that turned out totemo kakoiiii, or "totally awesome", which I taught them. Cut out images of the model were shot with her holding them as a fan blew her hair in all directions. On the shoot day we were on our own without a translator, however, we all came prepared with dictionaries :) Below are a few behind the scenes images of the shoot. I'll post the final pics ASAP!

Sportin' the Sophia

Red Shorts have been a spicy, Summer staple. I was so excited when I found my perfect pair of red pepper colored shorts on LA designer, Katie May's website.

The material and unique design enable an easy transition from day to night. For daytime I paired the Sophia Short with a neutral colored, crochet sweater, softening the hue of the shorts and accessorized with tribal inspired earrings and bow-tie pumps.  Another option would be a leopard flat or patent leather loafer.

MISS WORLD, Maya Murofushi

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

I was thrilled to be asked to style a portfolio shoot for our current MISS WORLD, Maya Murofushi. I attended a Fashion Show the week before and was in awe of her stage presence and self confidence in  front of the entire room. She brought out her inner "Sashia Fierce". I wanted her to portray that same character on set and pulled confident, sexy and FIERCE looks, I was certain she would execute with ease. That she did. Below are a few teaser shots from the shoot. It was so hard to pic through all the images as they were all stunning.

*Maya is a big up and coming talent here in Tokyo, she was recently seen in the BMW MINI ad campaign. Not only is she an International Super Model, Maya speaks 4 different languages, published many books and spends her downtime doing humanitarian work.

A little love for Lara Stone

Monday, August 22, 2011

Awhile back I drank the Lara Stone kool-aid with the rest of the fashion obsessed. After seeing her spread in UK's Self Service Magazine it is clear why she was voted one of the World's top models. MEE-YOOW!

I love the 60's retro styling, which has a huge presence all over the Fall runways.

Earthtone Stone

Sunday, August 21, 2011
Tokyo is full of fashion inspirations. However, you don't need to wonder along the crowded streets to find your fashion muse. The city is full of beautiful gardens and parks that provide enough creative stimulation for even the style challenged.

Beige, tan and nudes are always a safe neutral purchase but I personally love the look of silver blue stone. Similar to all neutral tones, Stone can be styled with bright hues or kept  natural with it's fellow Earthtones, mimicking it's natural setting.

I took a few notes from the our Mother Earth and paired my Stone hued dress with muted accessories and threw in some gold for a little more glam.. :)

Shoes: COACH

UGLY Premiere

Thursday, August 18, 2011

I attended the premiere for the Japanese film, UGLY. The movie was projected on the walls inside Valveat 81 Gallery in Aoyama. Everyone enjoyed the open bar and celebrated the film with the producers, actors and actresses.  As I mingled with fellow bloggers and fashion industry insiders I snapped shots of fun accessories and some "In-Your-Face" Fashion.
